We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated Team Manager who is interested in joining our Learning Disability and Autism team. You must be a dynamic, innovative and committed person, ideally with experience of working with people with learning disability and /or autism

Here in Newcastle we have an ambitious and innovative programme to reshape Social Work for those Adults with a Learning Disability and/or Autism. We have designed a new Learning Disability and Autism care management function whose remit is to dynamically review and respond to fluctuating needs by offering the right amount of support at each point in time in order to ensure maximum safe independence.

The team manager role is pivotal in this approach. The ideal candidate must be a progressed Social Worker with a minimum of 3 years’ post qualifying experience and be willing and able to manage a team of social workers alongside a complex and variable workload in a busy environment, where priorities are constantly changing.

Due to the complex nature of the work the role requires the team manager to have knowledge of Court of Protection proceedings and to work closely with key partners across health, education, housing and the community and voluntary sector. As a service we have worked closely with Housing and Commissioning to develop and expand our housing with support options across a range of needs.

A specific role will be to support and manage transition processes between Children’s Social Care and Adult Social Care and to work with education and health in relation to SEND.

For an informal discussion, please contact Doreen Andrews , Service Manager on 07816842580

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure and a range of other recruitment checks.
