Required from September 2021.

St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School is seeking to appoint an outstanding design and technology teacher with significant experience of engineering. Our extremely successful design and technology department aims to equip our pupils for the future and inspire a passion for design, technology and engineering. We deliver a broad and ambitious curriculum, ranging from studying the application of physics for the Formula 1 in schools engineering project to the designing of space saving furniture for small space living, all of which is underpinned by excellent, engaging teaching. We have a well-resourced department with state of the art facilities.

Our DT rooms all include a wide range of CNC machinery as well as traditional machines, alongside this we have a specialist engineering building sponsored by the Reece Foundation, which includes; a lecture theatre, specialist electronics area, IT suite and workshop. The design and technology team is led by a head of design and technology and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop within an established and supportive team of colleagues, whilst also having the professional freedom to develop our engineering offer.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about design and technology but especially the engineering curriculum and how this can be taught in an inspiring way to maximise outcomes, whilst both instilling and developing a love for the subject. We are looking for someone who can enable the boys to see the relevance of engineering in the modern world, someone who will inspire our pupils and spark their passion for the subject.

Above all, we are looking for someone who will help our boys become better men and show them the difference that engineering can make in the world. The ability to extend pupils’ engagement beyond the school day, through co-curricular activities would be an advantage.

This is an opportunity to join a well-established and aspirational department in an outstanding, all-boys Catholic School that has enjoyed a reputation as a centre of educational excellence for over one hundred years. We welcome applications from newly qualified teachers or early career entrants as well as, experienced Engineering teachers looking for a new challenge.
