We currently have a vacancy for a Health and Social Care Coordinator within Newcastle City Council’s Care Services teams, based at Castle Dene.

Castle Dene provides overnight respite for adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs.

This post involves providing supervision and shift coordination within our care and support service. We are looking for applicants with a flexible approach who are committed to making a real difference to people’s lives.

Our staff work closely with health colleagues and must be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting independence, health, wellbeing and choice to those who use our services. Maintaining the dignity of service users must be a priority at all times and successful applicants must be able to deliver care and support with great sensitivity.

We are looking to appoint a person who is enthusiastic, motivated and committed to working in a challenging yet rewarding environment. This post involves working with adults who have profound multiple learning disabilities with additional complex health needs and service users whose behaviour may challenge.

You will be expected to assist in all aspects of daily living including personal care, assistance with meals, and have some experience in working with people whose behaviour may be seen as challenging.

Being able to work shifts and unsociable hours (including weekends) is essential.

We will provide regular support, structured supervision and appraisal. In addition we offer training to meet national standards.

For an informal discussion, or further information, please contact Alayne Dugdale (Castle Dene) on 0191 278 8150.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.

We are strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure and a range of other recruitment checks.
