Family Liaison Officer

37 hrs per week, term time plus 5 training days, to be class based as directed by the Head Teacher.

Harry Watts Academy is a new special free school in Sunderland opened in September 2020 for autistic pupils aged between five and sixteen years. We pride ourselves on having a shared belief that all children have a right to the best education that can be provided and a learning and working environment where all are respected, valued and achievements celebrated.

Required from September 2021, we are looking to a Family Liaison Officer to join our growing team. As a Family Liaison Officer, you will be responsible for the seamless coordination between our teams to facilitate the partnership between home, school and with wider community. To join us, you will have experience of being part of a team that works with young people and their families, ideally in a specialist school. Office and administration experience would also be valuable, together with outstanding interpersonal and problem resolution skills. A genuinely empathetic approach is also essential. Finally, you must be ready to take the lead and use your initiative, and you will need a full UK driving licence.

Prosper Learning Trust was established in January 2018 with Newcastle Bridges School an Mary Astell Academy. Thomas Bewick School joined in 2019 and Harry Watts in September 2020. We are striving to further build collaboration across the schools and grow as a Multi Academy Trust, whilst continuing to strengthen our relationships with schools outside the MAT for the benefit of our pupils.

Harry Watts Academy is a new special free school for pupils with autism aged between five and sixteen years located in Sunderland. Initially the school has opened to a small cohort of pupils based in temporary accommodation in Harraton before moving to into the new school building in April 2021.

This position is subject to a satisfactory fully enhanced DBS check and references being received. The successful candidates will be deployed initially at Harry Watts Academy but will be expected to work at any Prosper Learning Trust site should the need arise.
