Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums (TWAM) is a major regional museum, art gallery and archives service managing a collection of nine museums and galleries across Tyneside and the Archives for Tyne and Wear.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join this award winning service; we are seeking to recruit 2-3 people who would like to join our casual Facility Assistant register to cover roles at a number of our venues when staff take holiday or other leave. Hours and location for these roles would vary providing flexibility.

Successful candidates for the casual register would be requested to attend an initial 2-3 week paid training / induction period.

The successful applicants will deliver a high standard of maintenance, security and safety to our venues.

This is a practical, hands-on roles and you will be expected to undertake a range of activities associated with the general operation of TWAM’s museums and galleries. You will provide general building and maintenance services, including opening and closing of buildings, technical support and room set up for corporate event operations and basic construction work for displays and exhibitions. You will also help to ensure safety of collections, exhibits and displays and assist with the moving and handling of them. You will be able to give basic guidance to visitors.

Applicants will have numeracy, literacy and IT skills as well as experience of building cleaning and maintenance.
