Employee Services provides a payroll, HR admin and pension service across the Council, YHN, Schools, Trusts and Academy Schools.

The service ranges from placing adverts on the North East Jobs Portal, arranging pre-employment checks, appointments and all related processes in the cycle of employment through to termination. Providing a high quality, responsive service, giving a wide range of advice and support to ensure adherence to employment law, statutory obligations and best practice.

The role will involve:

• Providing a frontline service to our customers and service users

• Placing adverts on our North East Jobs Portal

• Arranging interviews and liaising with the applicants and the City Council managers

• Assisting with the pre-employment checks for all New Starters and placing them onto the payroll system

• Assisting with the payroll, ranging from New Appointments through to Terminations

• Updating and maintaining various Document Management Systems in accordance with GDPR.

The placement will be in the centre of Newcastle at the Civic Centre but you will be expected to work in a flexible way between an office base and remotely from your home. To enable you to do that you would need access to the internet via wi-fi in your home. You will be provided with the appropriate IT equipment to enable you to do this and an agile start up payment of £150.

Please note, you will be required to attend our office base for a minimum of 4 days per week, this is to ensure you will be fully supported during your apprenticeship.

A flexi system is currently in operation giving you the flexibility to work between 7am -7pm, whilst meeting the needs of the business. We offer 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays rising to 29 days after 5 years’ service.
