Fixed term to 31 January 2022 to cover maternity leave

Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums (TWAM) is a major regional museum, art gallery and archives service managing a collection of nine museums and galleries across Tyneside and the Archives for Tyne and Wear.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join this award winning service; we are seeking to recruit an experienced and dedicated Customer Service Officer. The successful applicant will ensure the delivery of a high standard of customer service across our venues predominantly working at Segedunum Roman Fort, occasionally at South Shields Museum and Art Gallery and also supporting other venues.

Working closely with the Customer and Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for managing and supervising front of house staff to ensure excellent customer service, for day-to-day operations; health and safety procedures, building management and security. You will support exhibition installations and also work closely with TWAM Enterprises Ltd to support managing the delivery of our retail offering, catering provision and the management of events and corporate hire.

You must have management and customer care experience, preferably from working in a museum or visitor attraction or similar high volume customer facing environment and possess good organisational and communication skills. You must also have the ability to motivate a team of staff and be an enthusiastic and lively communicator.

The successful candidate will work to a rota which is likely to include regular rostered weekends and will also be required to support some evening hours and call outs out of hours.
