This is an exciting opportunity to join Community Hubs, Libraries and Open Spaces within our Operations & Regulatory Services Directorate.

You will be responsible for providing a frontline service to customers in our libraries and partnership buildings across the City which will include evening and weekend working.

You should be experienced in working in a customer focused environment and have the ability to actively promote services, including online whilst resolving customer enquiries. You should have excellent communication and customer service skills. You will also be expected to deliver story times and 1 to 1 IT sessions.

You will be required to work flexibly across all sites which will include working evenings to 7pm and weekend working on a rota basis.

In return we offer a minimum of 24 days paid holidays (pro rata for part time hours) and paid bank holidays; training and development; discounted travel tickets for the Metro, Rail, Shields Ferry, Stagecoach and Arriva Buses; Local Government Pension Scheme, Bike to Work scheme and other employee offers. We have a range of family friendly policies to support staff with caring responsibilities and work-life balance.

Please see the attached job description and person specification for the requirements of this post.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.

If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have any unspent criminal convictions.
