The Children’s Hospital Social Work Team based at the RVI Hospital in Newcastle and covering the RVI, Great North Children’s Hospital and the Freeman Hospital, currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Bereavement Counsellor to offer informed counselling to the parents, carers, families and staff who have experienced the death of a child.

The post would be for an initial fixed term of 3 years with a view to being extended. You will ideally have a degree or diploma in counselling or another therapeutic qualification with essentially at least 3 years post qualification experience with substantial proven practice hours and be skilled in working therapeutically with adults and professionals.

You will also have the appropriate registration e.g., BACP

The counselling role provides person centred therapy to adults who have experienced a child bereavement, in the form of 1-1 counselling using face to face, telephone and virtual media, individual, couples and family group counselling, depending on need.
