Counsellor - Child Bereavement

£38,890 – £41,881 per annum, pro rata (actual £26,277 - £28,297 per annum)
Fixed term for 3 months (with a possibility to extend)
The Children’s Hospital Social Work Team based at the RVI Hospital in Newcastle and covering the RVI, Great North Children’s Hospital and the Freeman Hospital, currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Bereavement Counsellor to offer informed counselling to the families, children and staff who have experienced the death of a child.
The post would be for an initial fixed term of 12 weeks with a view to being extended. You will have a degree or diploma in counselling, with essentially at least 3 years post qualification experience with substantial proven practice hours and be skilled in working therapeutically with adults and children.
You will also have the appropriate registration e.g., BACP.
The counselling role provides person centred therapy to adults and children who have experienced a child bereavement, in the form of 1-1 counselling using face to face, telephone and virtual media, couples and family group counselling, depending on need.
