£25,295 - £27,905 per annum (annual inflationary increment pending)

We are currently looking to recruit an Assistant Health and Safety (H&S) Officer who will work as part of a busy Corporate H&S Team based in the Civic Centre, Newcastle. You will work within the Councils H&S function covering Operational H&S, Strategic H&S and Learning and Development.

The successful candidate will be involved in delivering a wide range of H&S functions including: the review of corporate policies and codes, development and review of risk assessments and H&S website content, training design and delivery, development and delivery of targeted H&S audits and initiatives, provision of H&S advice to managers in different risk areas of the business, delivery of fire risk assessments and accident screening and investigations across a range of council service functions.

The successful candidate should hold the NEBOSH Health and Safety General Certificate and a relevant fire safety risk assessment qualification such as the NEBOSH Fire Safety certificate and/or the Fire Protection Association Fire Risk Assessment. The successful candidate must also have recent experience in conducting fire risk assessments.
