Start Date: 1st September 2022

Thomas Bewick is a large, successful specialist school for pupils with autism aged between three and nineteen years.

Required from September 2022, we are looking to appoint a highly positive, motivated and talented Assistant Headteacher with middle or senior leadership experience and a passion for teaching pupils with autism and associated difficulties. We value high standards of achievement for all of our pupils and so we are looking to appoint an excellent senior leader who will make a positive contribution to the education of our fantastic pupils at Thomas Bewick School. All pupils have significant learning difficulties and complex needs, and abilities range from Engagement Model to lower National Curriculum levels. Our new Assistant Headteacher will play a key role in leading teaching and learning across the school to ensure that we continue to provide a fantastic quality of education for all of our pupils.

Prosper Learning Trust was established in January 2018 with Newcastle Bridges School and Mary Astell Academy. Thomas Bewick School joined in 2019 and Harry Watts Academy opened in September 2020. We are striving to further build collaboration across the schools and grow as a Multi Academy Trust, whilst continuing to strengthen our relationships with schools outside the MAT for the benefit of our pupils.

Prosper Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and anyone applying to work within the Trust is expected to share this commitment. This position is subject to a satisfactory fully enhanced DBS check and references being received. Please note that in all cases written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise. All applicants must hold appropriate teaching qualifications and relevant experience.

The successful candidate will be deployed at Thomas Bewick School but could be expected to work at any Prosper Learning Trust site should the need arise.
