An exciting opportunity has arisen to join St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School as Assistant Head: Head of Sixth Form. For over one hundred and forty years, St Cuthbert’s has been nurturing fine young men, preparing them to take their rightful place in the Church and in the world. We have provided our pupils and students with a challenging yet supportive environment within which to discover and develop their own God-given gifts.

The St Cuthbert’s experience is so much more than a comprehensive education. We strive to challenge our pupils to become young men of integrity, educated in faith and for justice. In keeping with the finest traditions of Catholic education, we strive to form young men of competence, conscience, compassion, and commitment.

We are seeking a conscientious and committed colleague to contribute to the continuing development of St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School and to lead on and manage, our highly successful Sixth Form and Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG).

As Assistant Head responsible for the Sixth Form, you will work with the Deputy Head: Curriculum and Assistant Head: Teaching and Learning to ensure the successful delivery of an innovative, relevant, and engaging Sixth Form curriculum. A curriculum that encourages excellence and aspiration. A curriculum that encourages our students to accept responsibility for their learning and accommodates the diverse learning needs of our boys. Above all, a curriculum that adds significant value, helping our boys to become great men. You will also work with our Deputy Head: Pastoral to ensure that the pastoral and welfare needs of the boys are met, that the boys benefit from an exceptional co-curricular offer and receive the highest quality CEIAG in preparation for life beyond St Cuthbert's.

This role may suit an experienced Head of Department or pastoral leader with considerable experience in post-16 academic and pastoral care or indeed an established senior leader looking for a new challenge. This is a unique opportunity requiring the careful balance of pastoral and academic leadership, combined with the energy and vision to improve outcomes for our boys.

We shall appoint a leader who has vision, passion, and energy. A leader who is not afraid of change and is always looking for ways in which the school can improve. The successful applicant will be an outstanding teacher, in any discipline, who can analyse educational developments, determine what is appropriate for our pupils, students and staff, and successfully implement change.

There will be an opportunity for prospective applicants to visit the school. Interested candidates should contact the Headmaster’s PA, Mrs Lynn Anderson at lynn.anderson@scchs.org.uk to arrange a visit.

Application forms are available on our website: https://www.st-cuthbertshigh.newcastle.sch.uk/our-story/work-with-us for submission by 9.00am Wednesday 1st February 2023. A candidate information pack is available on request by emailing recruitment@scchs.org.uk
