Despite the challenges resulting from Covid-19, Newcastle City Council is still focused on supporting the local economy and transforming services to achieve better outcomes for residents. This includes working with local health partners to transform health and social care services, building new houses across the city with a range of delivery partners, developing the Helix site near St. James Park jointly with Newcastle University and Legal & General, and providing financial and other support to the most vulnerable individuals and families within our city.

Staff in Financial Services play a crucial role supporting elected Members and managers across the council to respond to the financial challenges we face and achieve vitally important service outcomes for residents and local businesses. We are doing this by streamlining our financial systems and processes to ensure they are as efficient as they can be so we can increasingly focus our efforts on providing expert advice and insight to help managers manage the financial resources they are responsible for.

We need highly skilled and professionally trained people to ensure we stay on top of the challenges we face, and to make the most of the opportunities that are emerging. We have an opportunity at Accountant level for a highly motivated individual. To be successful you will need excellent financial, technical and communication skills, as well as a demonstrable ability to work well both individually and as part of a team.

Interviews will be held virtually using Microsoft Teams.
