Radioactive Substances Act 1993
A number of premises use, keep and dispose of small amounts of radioactive materials. These are commonly hospitals and universities. Such premises are registered with the Environment Agency under the Radioactive Substances Act 1993.
The enforcement authority is the Environment Agency.
The Council is sent a copy of registrations for its public register which is required under the Act. The register can be viewed on the Environment Agency pages.
