Remembrance Sunday 2017 - Invite for ex tri-service personnel

To all ex tri-service personnel,

This letter gives details for all ex tri-service personnel who would like to take part in the Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service on 12 November 2017.

The arrangements for the last few years’ Service of Remembrance have illustrated that some ex services personnel (who are not members of veterans associations) would like to join the parade and march the entire route from the Civic Centre to Old Eldon Square.

The Lord Mayor and Commanding Officer of 5RRF would be delighted if individual ex tri-service personnel would join the parade with serving personnel, cadets and the veterans associations.

This year there will be only one starting point for the parade.

  • Civic Centre – if you wish to march the route please assemble on Ceremonial Way at the Civic Centre no later than 10am.
  • For anyone not wishing to march, please assemble with the veterans associations on Old Eldon Square Square no later than 10.10am.

At the conclusion of the Service, the marching contingent will march off the Square passing the dais at Grey’s Monument where the Lord Mayor will take the salute. Those who prefer not to march will fall out on the Square.

We hope that these arrangements will result in many more ex tri-service personnel attending the city’s act of remembrance and look forward to seeing you all on the day.

Yours sincerely,

Lord Mayor
