Over 6,500 images from the Local Studies photograph archive can be found on Flickr. As far as we are aware, our historical pictures are now in the public domain. This means the copyright has expired and you can download and re-use the digitised version freely.
The Photograph Collection
The Local Studies photograph collection consists of 80,000 photographs, prints and postcards representing the social, recreational and working lives of the region from the birth of photography in the 1850's, to the present day. They can be viewed in City Library.
You can request a photographic copy of an illustration or photograph from the collection and they can be provided in either digital or hardcopy formats. Copies can be made providing that the copyright of the illustration lies with Newcastle Libraries, for further details please contact us using the details below.
