From 8 February 2018, we will use a new library management system called Koha. The library management system is where all the information on library members and library collections is stored; it is the key system for running the library service. For more information, please click here.

Catalogue

Search the library catalogue for items stocked by Newcastle Libraries.

Reserving items

If an item is listed as in stock on our catalogue you may reserve the item online. A 50p charge applies except to under 16-years-olds and those registered blind or sight impaired. You will be notified when it is ready to be collected from your nominated branch.

If the item is not on our catalogue we will try to borrow it from another library authority. This service costs £2.50 per item (there is a 50p reservation charge and an additional £2.00 to pay on collection). Please phone 0191 2774100 or email information@newcastle.gov.uk for more information.

Renewing loans online

Log in to your library account via the online catalogue to renew items you have on loan. This will automatically renew all items on loan to you except:

  • items that are charged for e.g. videos, DVDs, CDs;
  • items that have been reserved by another customer.
