About West End Library

The library offers the very best in services. You can borrow books, DVDs and have free access to information, newspapers, magazines and computers and serve yourself at our self-service terminals. Customers can relax and meet friends over a cup of coffee or tea available from our vending machine.

Customer Service Centre

Offers access to over 90 different public services West End Customer Service Centre.

Health and Wellbeing

Dedicated book collections are available to those with mild to moderate mental health problems including stress, anxiety, phobias and self-esteem. As well as a wide range of books which include titles recommended by health professionals, there is useful website information, leaflets and a set of self-help booklets. West Newcastle Picture History Collection

The West Newcastle Picture History Collection is based in West End Library and is accessible to all. There are around 17,000 images and maps of the West End, mainly of Benwell, Elswick and Scotswood. The collection includes a large selection of images by Jimmy Forsyth but also covers other west end wards in detail. It is open, on request to library staff, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, for unaided research, however volunteers are present to help enquirers on Mondays between 10am - 4pm.
