From May 29 2018 the music CD service will be withdrawn completely from all libraries.

In addition to this, the DVD service will operate from City Library only. (withdrawn from Outer West, Gosforth, West End, Fenham and East End Libraries)

This is due to falling loans and income in both areas over recent years, and as a self-financing service this has become unsustainable in its current form.

DVDs can be reserved from any of our libraries or online for a 50p charge.

LibrariesNewcastle has 13 libraries across the city. We offer a range of services including books and DVDs to borrow, free computers and Wifi, heritage and family history resources, business and Intellectual Property information, help with employment skills, eBooks and eAudiobooks, electronic resources and much more.

Newcastle City Council’s Libraries Service is the proud holder of the Government’s Customer Service Excellence standard.
