Shared care is part of the short break service for children with disabilities.
Shared care provides a service in the community where carers who are approved by the fostering standards panel look after your child for a few hours per week or longer, depending on need.
How to access this service
The service is accessed by a request from a social worker in the Children with Disabilities Team or a hospital social worker.
If you are interested in becoming a carer?
If you could offer any time and have had experience with looking after a child or young person with special needs, we would like you to become a shared carer to help give young people with a disability different, happy experiences, either in the child's home, your home, or in the community. Visit the different type of foster carers section.
