Fostering

The Fostering process

The Fostering process

Newcastle City Council's Fostering team will be with you every step of the way as you start your fostering journey.

Why should I adopt?

Why should I foster?

Fostering is a life changing decision - for you and your family and also the young people you will care for and support.

Who can foster?

Who can foster?

It takes a special type of person to foster, Newcastle City Council can help find the type of fostering that suits you and your family the most.

Foster a Future

Newcastle Fostering Service is looking for foster carers in the North East to join our team and provide stability, security and support for children of all ages, backgrounds and different needs. We need carers who can provide long-term, short-term and short break care for teenagers, sibling groups, children with disabilities and children from black and minority ethnic backgrounds.

As the Local Authority we always have children that need safe and secure homes, if you think you could provide a safe and happy home to our children then please contact us to find out more about our Fostering Service, the training and support we offer as well as the financial packages available to Foster Carers

We also have our specialist Build a Future service working with children and cusp of residential care.

We also provide a Supported Lodgings service for young people aged 16 - 18.

In return, we offer you all the support and training you need with financial packages of up to £400 per week/per child for mainstream fostering and £750 a week for Build a Future whilst you have a young person in placement.

We welcome applications from all sectors of the community in the North East, so you could be pleasantly surprised. All you really need is a big heart and plenty love to give. We recruit foster carers from within a 50-mile radius of Newcastle upon Tyne.
