Asbestos in a Workplace

Asbestos in workplaces is a high priority area for the City Council's Health and Safety service to deal with and we will respond to any requests for service or complaints by giving advice to employers/employees, visiting the premises, taking action as appropriate. We do not however routinely take samples for analysis and if appropriate would require the duty holder to perform this task.

Asbestos in your home

The Service provides advice to residents regarding asbestos in their home. This advice entails guidance on not disturbing any asbestos by cutting, drilling or breaking it and sealing it with paint, or pva glue etc. If you need any physical analysis or require removal we advise you contact analytical service providers that specialize in asbestos that can be found in the telephone directory or by a general internet search engine. We would recommend the use of analytical services that are UKAS accredited.
