What is mentoring?

Mentoring is a relationship between a young person and an adult that will provide:

  • consistent support
  • cuidance and assistance
  • opportunities to access important non-judgemental adult advice
  • opportunities for adults to share knowledge, skills and life experiences.

How to obtain a learning mentor

If you feel that they may benefit from working with a mentor to provide additional support and assistance alongside your normal education, check with your school to see if this support is available. See school contact details.

More general information about learning mentors can be found on the DfE website, as well as the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation website.
