All maintained schools should provide for collective worship and Religious Education (RE) for their pupils. The precise nature of the collective worship and RE at a community or voluntary school will depend on the religious character of the school. The standing advisory councils for religious education (SACREs) continue to be legally responsible for advising local authorities (LAs) on religious education (RE) and collective worship.   Visit the standing advisory councils for religious education (SACREs) section for further information

The National Society for promoting religious education website also offers advice to all regarding collective worship.
