The Community Covenant Grant Scheme delivers financial support to projects which strengthen the ties or the mutual understanding between members of the Armed Forces Community and the wider community in which they live.
An application for funding can be submitted by any part of the community; this might include volunteer groups, charities and public bodies such as schools.
This year the grant scheme has around £10million to spend.
In Newcastle, bids are considered by an Executive Group of the Armed Forces Forum comprising the 12 lead signatories of the Community Covenant. Bids that the lead signatories are happy to endorse are then submitted to the MOD Regional Grants Panel for consideration.
