Visit a market in Newcastle
Built in 1835, the Grade I listed building is a popular traditional indoor market offering a huge range of products from fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and fish to handmade crafts, hardware and haberdashery. There are cafes catering to every taste from Full English breakfasts to freshly-baked cakes and muffins. See our Grainger Market Trader Directory and Map (PDF, 6mb) for more details.
- 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday
- Closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
The Grainger Market is home to many small businesses and self-employed independent traders, and often they do not employ additional staff. They already open for trade six days a week and have voted to take Sunday and Bank Holidays off work. We regularly open for the two Sundays prior to Christmas from 10am to 4pm.

Monthly Farmers' Market
Our popular local food producers' market is held outdoors at Grey's Monument in the city centre the first Friday every month from 9am to 2.30pm.
All products on the market must be raised, grown or produced within a 50 mile radius of the site of the market. This gives the market a truly local feel as well as supporting local farmers, growers and producers.
For more details and information on on regular traders please see our Newcastle Farmers' Market Flyer.
- Every Sunday, 9am to 4pm
This vibrant market on Newcastle's Quayside is flourishing with traders selling quality local crafts, artwork, jewellery, fashion, food and plants.
Art and craft market in the Grainger Market
Every second Saturday of the month we hold an art and craft market in the Grainger Market Arcade where you will find a range of locally made produce on sale.
