Explosive Regulations 2014

Information for the guidance of applicants registering premises under the above regulations to store explosives.

It is a requirement that anyone wishing to keep explosives shall register their name, trade and premises with the Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service.

The Service will now only issue a registration/licence for new applications or renewals once the premises designated for explosive storage has been subject to a satisfactory inspection from their fire safety department.

For further advice and guidance on Manufacture and Storage of Explosives, please consult the Health and Safety Executive website.

The Explosives Regulations 2014 have been produced to consolidate specific areas relating to the manufacture and storage for explosives and fireworks. This guidance replaces The Manufacture and Storage Regulations 2005.

Guidance on the legislation and how it affects you, if you wish to store fireworks, together with a draft document providing guidance on the new regulations can be found at http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/books/l150.htm
