Show your support this Small Business Saturday

SBS logoWe’re proud to support the national Small Business Saturday and champion our local small businesses! Small Business Saturday is on Saturday 3 December 2016 this year and we want to encourage everyone to shop local and use independent services.

This is the fourth Small Business Saturday to be held in the UK and we’re fully backing the initiative here in Newcastle.

We're running a special campaign of our own ahead of Small Business Saturday to help and support our 7,000 local small businesses.

We asked the people of Newcastle to name their local high street heroes, as part of a joint campaign with the Federation of Small Businesses, to raise awareness in the importance of shopping local.

Here are the businesses shortlisted to be Newcastle's Small Business Champion of 2016:

Small Business Saturday is the first Saturday in December - the busiest shopping day on the year -  when people are encouraged to shop local and use small independent traders.  Last year saw 16.5m shoppers show their support nationally.

In 2015, Newcastle's Small Business Champion was Fine Fish - a local produce store in Benwell selling fresh fish, fruit and veg.

So, who will win this year? You can vote for your favourite shortlisted trader here, and join in with the campaign via our Facebook and Twitter channels using #SBSncl.

City shoppers - please show your support and get behind Small Business Saturday on 3 December and beyond by shopping local and using small businesses.

If you're a local business, then keep up to date with help and support available to you by signing up to our special newsletter for business.
