We aim to help children and young people in Newcastle to be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic well-being by supporting them in their families, schools and communities.

These are some of the services provided by, or supported by, the directorate:

  • Social care services which protect, care for and support children, young people and their families across the city.
  • Education services which are provided through our schools community as well as by a supporting network of specialists and professionals including educational psychologists, speech and language therapist.
  • Family support services that offer free and impartial information for parents and carers of children and young people aged 0 - 19 years.
  • Early years and play which provides a wide range of services for children and their families.
  • Youth services to enable young people to get involved and make a positive contribution to their lives and their futures.

Partnerships

We have strong partnerships with schools, health service agencies, the police, Newcastle College, Job Centre Plus and a range of public and voluntary sector partners. See the Newcastle Children's Trust Board.
