The Tyneside Life and Times website has been constructed under strict guidelines and specifications from the New Opportunities Fund. All of the web pages are compliant with W3C interoperability standards.

Each page has its own URL, and contains Dublin Core Metatags. The basic Dublin Core set is due for completion in early January 2003.

By clicking on the "more" link under any thumbnail on a search results page, you are performing a Content-Based Image Retrieval search. This looks at the visual features of the selected pictures and finds pictures with similar visual features. The Content Based Image Retrieval Search software used by this site is MARIAN. It has been developed by the Institute for Image Data Research at Northumbria University.
