Training for drug workers, drug users, parents and carers living or working in Newcastle. All courses in the Safe Newcastle Training Directory are provided free of charge to those working or living in the Safe Newcastle area. For those working outside of Newcastle a charge may apply.
Overdoes training

A one day course for people working or living with drug users. The course aims to develop knowledge and understanding of the signs, symptoms and responses to overdose situations and is a mixture of presentations, group work and practical scenarios. The course will be certificated by the North East Ambulance Service. All sessions begin with registration at 9.00 am. Workshop 9.30 am to 4.00 pm

Planning a budget

This one-day course led by Angie Martin of the learning team is for anyone with responsibility for managing an organisation's accounts. It is aimed at people who already have some experience of book keeping and managing money. The course will focus on budgets and cashflow forecasts, both essential for running a voluntary organisation and for supporting a funding application. Crack Cocaine training course

The course will examine the types of cocaine, the neurological and physical effects, the health implications of use, how to identify use, engaging and retaining people in services and a range of treatment options. Dates: 9th and 10th October 2007 Location: Terrace Room, Newcastle University, Leazes Terrace, Newcastle upon Tyne Time: 9.30 am - 4.30pm This course is FREE to those from the Safe Newcastle area and includes refreshments and lunch. NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care

Free accredited training for the Voluntary and Community Sector. This course is aimed at healthcare assistants, team leaders, senior carers in any capacity, involved in the day to day support and care of groups or individuals. Participants must be over 25 and work for, or be a volunteer for, a voluntary sector group or organisation. All courses are free but a returnable deposit is required when booking.
Financial Management training

Financial Management training for non-financial managers, finance and admin staff and committee members who need to understand and work with financial reports. A four day course offering a 1 day policy and planning overview of the funding framework for housing with support, and three days of hands-on financial management training. The practical aspects of the training encourage a real understanding of the actual production of financial reports leading to more effective analysis and management.
