Home composting

Home composting

Did you know that around 20% of the contents of an average household wheelie bin is comprised of food waste that could be composted? This food could end up decomposing in landfill site which then produces methane which is harmful to the environment.

Home composting is one of the easiest options for reducing the amount of waste you send to landfill, and it's great for your garden!

Remember, you cannot put food waste in your brown garden bin. That is for gardening waste only.

Buy a compost bin

We have teamed up with getcomposting.com to provide Newcastle residents with the opportunity to buy specially reduced price compost bins and wormeries. They also provide water butts and food waste caddies. For more information and details about delivery charges, visit the Get Composting website.
