The NewcastleGateshead joint Urban Core Area Action Plan (UCAAP) is central to delivering our vision for the Urban Core to be prosperous and sustainable. It sets out a detailed planning strategy for Newcastle and Gatesheads’ centres and where development will occur to boost our economy, improve transport and accessibility, enhance the quality of place and improve urban living.

The preparation of the UCAAP has so far involved three key stages:

The latest stage of consultation on the Proposed Major Changes Report concluded on 13 September 2012. The Council is carefully considering all comments that have been made.

What Will Happen Next

All comments including alternative options and representations made during previous stages will inform drafting of the One Core Strategy Submission Draft.
