The Local Development Framework (or LDF for short) is the way in which the City Council will present its proposals for the use and development of land and for changes to the transportation system. It will replace the Unitary Development Plan (or UDP). Houses in Multiple Occupation - Article 4 Directive
Following consideration of all of the comments received, the Council has confirmed that the Article 4 Direction dated 24 November 2010 is to come into force for the Area of Housing Mix on 25th November 2011. The Article 4 Direction will require that an application for planning permission be submitted for a change of use from C3 to C4 use. Planning applications will be judged against national and local planning policy and all other material considerations.
One Core Strategy and Urban Core Area Action Plan

Over the next 20 years, there could be significant changes to the way you live, work, shop and travel in Newcastle and Gateshead. Newcastle City Council and Gateshead Council are working together to prepare the Urban Core Area Action Plan and the One Core Strategy which will pave the way for these exciting changes to happen.

Northumberland Gardens Draft Management Plan
In March 2001 the council adopted the Northumberland Gardens Character Statement as Planning Guidance. A draft Management Plan, which builds upon the content of the Character Statement and provides guidance and advice on how best to manage the character and appearance of the conservation area, is now available for your comments and contributions.

The Grainger Town Quinquennial Review 2010. An independent, external evaluation has been undertaken of Grainger Town which considers regeneration in Grainger Town since the end of the project in 2003. The report sets out recommendations for the future and will be used as part of the evidence base for the Local Development Framework.
