The preparation of the Urban Core Area Action Plan (UCAAP) is currently under consultation and takes account of the early preparation of the Newcastle City Centre Area Action Plan DPD. In January 2011 the Council resolved to jointly prepare an area action plan with Gateshead Council for the wider urban core area including the City Centre. The results of previous consultation and evidence undertaken as part of the development of the City Centre Area Action Plan, has helped to shape the preferred options report for the urban core and also, in part, the Joint Core Strategy.
