PB Unit

In 2006 the PB Unit conducted an evaluation of PB in the UK. Newcastle's U Decide programme, though just in its infancy at this time, was included as a case study. The development of skills, capacity and ownership in the community was identified as a particular strength of the U Decide model. The model was also recognised as inclusive and redistributive. Participants engaged with the issues and voted to support projects that tackled disadvantage. To read more, follow the link:

The Pilots

From 2006 to 2008, the Newcastle Partnership piloted PB using £280K Neighbourhood Renewal Fund money. Over the two years, 5 projects were delivered across two pilot programmes. The footprint for the first programme covered Lemington, Denton and Woolsington. The second programme targeted children and young people across the whole city.
