The Cycling Forum meetings are on Thursdays. The meetings start at 5.30pm with an informal session to allow people to look at any plans on display, chat and have a cup of tea, with the formal meeting starting at 6pm.
The remaining dates for 2012 are 7 June, 7 September and 6 December. The meetings are open to any cyclist, cycling organisation or business. I hope to see you there.
Cycling Forum
The Forum is not a decision making body but it is the means by which the cycling community can contribute to and influence the services that the Council provides for cyclists. It is made up of representatives of organisations concerned with cycling and interested cyclists. Forum members agree to follow the Terms of Reference (pdf 35kb) for the Forum.
The Forum works in a number of ways:
-
Forum meetings are held four times a year at the Civic Centre to look at plans for cycling schemes and discuss issues with council officers. These meetings are open to the public to allow individuals to attend and contribute. The meeting room is open from 5.30pm for looking at plans. The meeting proper starts at 6pm. Details for the next meetings can be found here.
-
Anything that will be looked at in the meeting, the agenda, plans and other documents, will be put on this webpage so that people can see them beforehand here. Minutes from meetings and the list of outstanding items will be put here as soon as we can afterwards. You can look at previous minutes here. You can comment on these without coming along to meetings.
-
From time to time I contact Forum members to ask for advice or to pass on information. This might include asking for comments on plans where decisions have to be made before the next Forum. If you want to be included in this mailing list please contact me.
-
For big cycling schemes Forum members will be invited to take part in a smaller working group to look at proposals in detail. The working group will generally be the council officer who is responsible for the scheme and representatives from cycling organisations or people who live in or cycle through the area of the scheme. Information for big and small schemes and about Working Groups will be posted here.
