Photograph of School Crossing Patrol personelMaking sure children are safe on their journey to and from school is vital.

The City's School Crossing Patrol Officers, or lollipops as they are often known,  help both children and their parents or carers cross busy roads near schools.

There are 81 school crossing points  (PDF 17.7 kb)  across the city and School Crossing Patrols are an essential part of the Road Safety Team.  They contribute to making Newcastle a safer City to live and work in by providing hands on Road Safety training and support.

If you have any queries about the School Crossing Patrol service or are enquiring about any vacancies please contact the Road Safety Team on 0191 2115962 or at road.safety@newcastle.gov.uk
