Road safety education is promoted from a young age. Our dedicated Early Years Advisors teach young children basic road safety messages.
There are 3 Advisors who work in schools, nurseries and playgroups across the City.
They provide foundation road safety messages for children in nursery, reception and Key Stage 1 groups.
Special attention is given to reminding young children to stay with a responsible adult at all times and to hold hands when they are out and about. Being safe and seen, cycle safety and road awareness is also covered.
Children are engaged in learning through role play, songs, stories and activities.
A book is provided to all children in Newcastle. 'Stepping Out Together - A Lesson For Life'. is aimed at 3 year old children, parents and carers and reinforces learning and promotes good behaviour while out and about.
