There are a number of big events in Newcastle in June which will have temporary traffic restrictions. Please check the details if you intend to cycle through the affected areas.
There will be temporary restrictions on Newcastle Quayside between Saturday 2 and Tuesday 5 June 2012 for the Evolution Music Event.
There will be a Royal Navy Association Parade on Sunday 10 June 2012 between 12:45 and 13:45 with temporary traffic restrictions in the Big Market area.
The Olympic Torch Relay will travel along a number of streets in the city and there will also be an Evening Event 2012 so there will be extensive associated road closures and restrictions between 06:00 on Thursday 14 June and 23:00 on Friday 15 June.

British Cycling will be running the next Breeze leaders training course on Saturday 26 May in South East Northumberland. This is a one day training course for females only which will allow them to lead groups of lady cyclists. Contact them directly if you are interested. The website also carried details of the grwoing number of Breeze Rides in the North East.
The National Trust are running a fundraising cycle tour (pdf 510.69kb) on Saturday 7 July, starting from Holy Jesus Hospital in Newcastle and linking a number of the National Trust properties in the North East. While you are at Holy Jesus you can check out the new cycle/pedestrian ramp we have installed from outside Holy Jesus to Melbourne Street, and the cycle parking in front.

The latest Cycle North East magazine (3.69mb pdf) is now available online with information on what’s happening in cycling across the region. Hardcopies will be available in the next few weeks through libraries, customer service centres and the Tourist Information Office.
