School is back next week and, from Saturday 1 September, Newcastle parents can log on to computers and start applying for places for the autumn term 2013.
Our web pages have lots of information about the different schools and tips for making your application, whether your child is starting reception class or transferring to middle of secondary school. And once you have all the information you need, you can apply for a place online.
“Online admissions are proving increasingly popular as parents are becoming more aware of the benefits. Applying online is easy to do, quick, safe and secure,” said John Collings, Executive Director for Children’s Services.
“Parents get instant confirmation by email that their application has been received. They are able to view or change their application right up to the deadline. And they will find out their school offer by email before they receive the letter by post. We strongly advise parents to apply online.”
The process is just getting underway for admissions and transfers taking place in September 2013. The deadline for transfer places is midnight on 31 October 2012 and for reception class places, midnight on 15 January 2013.
Why not apply online now, there’s no need to wait? More and more families across the country are doing it and there is no risk your application will get lost in the post.
Leaflets describing the process are available from any customer service centre, or you can ask at your local childcare setting, and letters will be distributed to parents in early September.
