Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh will make a visit to Newcastle as part of the Diamond Jubilee tour of the North East on Wednesday, 18 July.
The Royal couple will travel along the Coast Road and will be greeted by children from our city’s schools who will see them as they pass the Corner House junction at around 11.15am.
Her Majesty’s car will then head towards the Quayside where people will get another opportunity to see Her Majesty and The Duke of Edinburgh as they arrive at the Milk Market 11.30am.
The car will travel along the Quayside toward the Side where it will drive up Dean Street, Grey Street, before turning on to Market Street and will then continue its journey to Her Majesty’s next engagement in Gateshead.
This visit will mean some the city’s road will be affected for a short time. These include the above streets. On-street parking on these streets will also be suspended from midnight until the Royal car has passed.
Cllr Nick Forbes, Leader of Newcastle City Council, said: “The Queen holds a special place in the heart of our nation, and I know thousands will want to come and give her a warm Geordie welcome on her Diamond Jubilee Tour.”
