With the festive season in full swing you will be looking at buying your loved ones the latest must-have gift, however this time of year can be difficult if you have any money worries.

If you are worried about debts or want to get financial advice come along to a special Let’s talk money! drop-in event on Saturday, 15 December from 9.30am.

The free information roadshow at the Monument will also give shoppers help on where to go to get an affordable loan and will even let you know how upcoming benefit changes will affect you.

There’ll be lots of help available from many trustworthy organisations, working in partnership with Newcastle City Council, including the Citizens Advice Bureau and Your Homes Newcastle.

Officers will be able to signpost you to help and advice on a range of other financial areas including how you can reduce your fuel bill, understand more about Welfare Reform, and find out how you can access bank accounts and save safely.

Saturday’ Let’s talk event will also highlight financial literacy, digital inclusion and illegal money lending as well a homelessness and fuel poverty.

Cllr Joyce McCarty, Newcastle City Council’s Deputy Leader and lead member for financial inclusion, said:  “I am delighted to be supporting this event which sees the city council coming together with our partners to ensure that our residents get the best advice when dealing with their own financial affairs.

“Let’s talk money will also given the people of our city the chance to talk in confidence with our officers who will be there to explain the changes to welfare reform, give advice on education and training and also digital inclusion.”
