Miriam Margolyes who starred as Pomona Sprout in the Harry Potter films will help Newcastle City Libraries launch its new audiobook services when she visits the city next week.
The actress who is currently starring in The Wedding Video will be at Newcastle City Library on Saturday, 1 September from 12 noon where she will unveil the new service which allows library members to download their favourite audiobook for free from the library's website.
This new service will give people a choice from around 200 titles and borrowers can keep them for two weeks.
Delivered by Bolinda Digital, the service is available on all platforms and devices including iPads, tablets and is also accessible through a Kindle.
Potter fans and enthusiasts and will also get the chance to hear Miriam as she will also be reading from Alice in Wonderland and will be hosting a question and answer session about her life and work.
Cllr Veronica Dunn, Newcastle City Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services, said: "We are looking forward to welcoming Miriam Margolyes to the City Library and are delighted she is helping us to launch this new service for our members. There are many titles to chose from in our new collection and having Miriam here will add some star quality to the occasion.”
She added: “We hope this service will be enjoyed by everyone and will have something for all ages.”
