A special event inspired by the Paralympics is expected to draw thousands of young people to Exhibition Park tomorrow (Saturday 8 September, 11am – 4pm).

Active Newcastle has joined forces with Deloitte to host a special Paralympic version of ParkFest 2012, which will bring the curtain down on an extraordinary summer of sport.

The event gives people the chance to try and experience Paralympic sports, with a focus on the future as organisers look to cement an Olympic and Paralympic legacy for the region.

The event will provide opportunities for children and adults of all abilities to have a go at some Paralypmic sports, have their photo taken with an Olympic torch and enjoy a picnic, with entertainment provided by local dance and fitness groups.

Events on the day will include: 

o A family Fun Run  will be started by the Mayor at 11.30 (registration from 11am)
o Art Van - Olympic WII
o Torch Photo Booth
o Climbing Wall Bungee
o Trampoline
o Laser Wars
o Sitting Volleyball
o Olympic Family Challenges
o Short Tennis Adapted Rowing (tbc)
o Powerlifting (tbc)
o Horse Riding
o Smoothie Bikes
o Blind Football Challenges
o Wheelchair Basketball Accessible Bikes 
o Accessible Adventure Playground
o Dance and Fitness Performances on main Stage Picnic Area
