You can join at any of our libraries. You can also join online and we will post a library card to you. There's no need for proof of address, unless you wish to borrow more than one item at a time or borrow DVDs and CDs. If you would like to be able to borrow up to 10 books as well as CDs and DVDs, please bring in to any Newcastle library proof of your full name and address. This documentation needs to be current (from the last 3 months) and can include a bank statement, utility bill, driving licence or tenancy agreement.

Language packs, Open Learning packs, spoken word CDs and free loan videos are all treated as items and the total number of items cannot exceed 10. We charge for lending music CDs and films on DVD or blu-ray. You only need a library ticket to borrow items, use our online resources and to use our computers.
