Fenham Library Update, 19 April 2012
Work rebuilding Fenham Library will begin in May. The site preparation and scaffolding work will start in the first week of May and the brickwork will begin after the Bank Holiday Monday, weather permitting. The Library will remain open during the rebuilding work.
We understand that the length of time taken to repair the library has been frustrating for customers, residents and library staff. The building’s listed status and the delicate state of the original brickwork have both added to the length of the planning process. The Library Service is committed to the continued use of the building as a popular local library and our two priorities during the last 12 months have been:
We will continue to keep customers and residents informed of progress.
Unfortunately the access ramp at the front door will be temporarily closed while the scaffolding is in place. If any customers are unable to use the steps they can contact us by phone: 0191 2774100 or email information@newcastle.gov.uk and we’ll arrange for our Home Delivery Service to collect and deliver any books.
