The Council is in the process of implementing a new pay and grading structure under the national Single Status agreement. The salary for jobs earning a basic between £15,470 and £46,479 is subject to that review and may therefore change in the next 12 to 18 months.

A vacancy has arisen for a Social Care Assessment Officer to work alongside the Social Worker at Walkergate Park Centre for Neuro-rehabilitation, which is part of Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS Trust in Newcastle. The Centre provides in-patient rehabilitation to people from the North-East region with complex physical and cognitive needs resulting from neurological disabilities, including acquired/traumatic brain injury and MS. The post is managed by Newcastle City Council and is part of the community Physical Disability Team. The post is based at Walkergate Park, Benfield Road, Newcastle upon Tyne.
You must be interested in working as part of a busy multi-disciplinary team, supporting people who have experienced major life-changing events, and their families and carers. You must also be enthusiastic about helping people to manage the transition from in-patient care back into the community.
