The Council is in the process of implementing a new pay and grading structure under the national Single Status agreement which will be complete in 2008. The salary for jobs earning a basic between Ł15,470 and Ł46,479 is subject to that review and may therefore change in the next 12 to 18 months.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Social Work practitioner to join our very supportive and experienced team. This post though part of the Older Persons team, has a specialist focus working with service users over 65 with a mental health diagnosis and is one of two posts based at the Castleside Unit at Newcastle General Hospital. This is an exciting time to be joining the service with the development of Community Mental Health Teams for Older People very much in focus. Social Workers provide an assessment/commissioning/care management service to older people living in the West of the city with complex mental health needs as part of a multi professional assessment. Good caseload management and IT skills with experience of electronic recording systems for case files are essential. A commitment to partnership working to effect good person centred outcomes is central to the role.
